Rudimental Research

After looking at some of the changes that I need to do I thought it was best if I went back and researched into what rudimental are like so that my new changes will fit with rudimental. When I created my first drafts of my products I got so carried away with the dance element that I lost track of what rudimental are like and what type of things I should include.

Some history of Rudimental:
This band has 4 members;
  • Amir Amor
  • Kesi Dryden
  • DJ Locksmith
  • Piers Agget
The group rose to prominence in 2012 when their single "Feel the Love", featuring singer John Newman, topped the UK Singles Chart, and for which they were also nominated for a BRIT Award in 2013.
Some of the bands artwork:

This is the cover of the CD for the album 'Home' As you can see at the top it has the rudimental logo, and in the bottom right corner it has the title of the album. The photo on this cover is something that appears in the single 'free.'

This is the back cover of the CD from the album 'Home.' This is a pretty simple background. It has the barcode in the bottom, an age rating as some of the songs may have explicit language in it, the record labels as well as the names of the songs. In this version of the CD there is a DVD within it as well. This is showing the music videos to people.

This is the CD of the album 'Home.' Again this is very simple. The logo at the top and the name of the album on the bottom. The colour of the font links with what is on the front of the album, as well as the font its self.

Music Videos:
Rudimental have a few different videos. All of them are a narrative theme. This means that there Is no scene when anyone is singing the lyrics. This could be for many reasons. Here are a few examples of some music videos.

These are screen shots from the video 'Feel The Love.' As you can see this is a narrative story. By watching the video i was able to understand a story. This is something that is seen in all of rudimental's videos.

My Digipak

This is my finished Digipak all put together. As you can see I have the front cover on the bottom right, back cover on the bottom left and the two inside pages on the top. I created all of this in Indesign and Photoshop. I created all 4 covers as a separate file. All of the photos are of me dancing, this fits in with the theme of my music video. I also chose to have 3 colours in my colour scheme. Black, white and blue. On the back cover there is a list of the songs in the album, and on the front is the artist and the album name. I think that this has worked out very well as it fits with my music video and my advert. I think that it all fits together well and flows as a cover.

This is a brake down of all of the sections.

My Music Video Advert

As you can see I have tried to make my post as much like my firsts draft. I used many things to create the final product. Photoshop and Indesign are the two main things that I use. First I started by taking the basic images. By putting them into photoshop I was able to get rid of any impurities in the background. I was also able to move parts in the photo. For example my position in this photo is not where i was originally standing when the photo was taken. When putting it in Indesign i was able to add things such as the logo, recording label and all the other parts on the Advert. All of these were edited in Photoshop as well. I think that this has turned out very well. The lighting is good, it is a simple picture, well positioned and has all the information needed. If I was to do this again I would take a lot more photos so that I have a lot more range to choose from.
